Dear Members,
Though many of us have been playing golf through the Winter, the golf season is officially upon us! The Golf Shop has had its grand opening; the Ladies will start their weekly competitions; and the snowbirds will soon return. We look forward to reconnecting with them! Hopefully, warmer temperatures will soon follow the start of the season.
Spring has begun with construction of the new pickle ball and bocce ball courts, renovation of the tennis courts, replacement of the pool deck, and additional improvements to the pool house. We expect that work will be completed by Memorial Day, but possibly sooner. The grand opening will be very exciting! For the safety of all, we thank you for your continued cooperation in avoiding the pool parking area where the work is being done.
A project that is happening behind the scenes is a redesign of the Club’s website and development of an App. We expect that they will go live toward the beginning of June. The website and App will be your sources for all the information you may need about the Club. Our goal is to make access to information easier. The website will be more user friendly with up-to-date information and easy navigation. The App will contain much of the same information as the website. Each will allow for online scheduling of court times and tee times. Eventually, food can be ordered via the App during your round so that it is ready for pick-up. Of course, the Golf Shop will still make tee times by phone if that is your preference. More information to come as we work through the new design.
Membership numbers rose over the Winter and continue to rise. We gained 14 new Proprietary members since the beginning of the year! You may recall that we had record numbers of tee times last year, particularly on the weekends, causing some frustratingly slow play. On many Summer days, tee times were not available.
We expect that the Golf Course will be at least as busy as last year. The Board revised the Guest Play Policy last year so that tee times were available to Proprietary members. As a reminder, from May 1 to September 30, members may have up to three guests at one time, except for Fridays, and prior to 2:00 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, when only one guest per member is permitted. In anticipation of a greater demand for tee times this year, we further revised the play policy. Social and Colony Clubhouse members may not use their once monthly tee time on Fridays or before 2:00 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. We thank you for adhering to these policies.
It should be an active season at the Club. Whichever sport, activity, or social event you choose, enjoy!
