From the Boardroom
Happy New Year! It looks to be an exciting year here at the Club as we have many things on the docket.
The refinance has been completed. Many thanks to all who chose to participate in the loan. The Board takes this as a vote of confidence in the plans that we have for the Club. Your support means a great deal. I would also like to thank the members of the Refinance Committee who worked to put the package together. They are Jerry Campo, Chuck Edwards, Colin Fleming, Dick DePosit, Laurie Leonetti, and Lynn Peabody. It is with much appreciation that I recognize Dick DePosit, Comptroller Mary Kaye Johansen, and Jerry Campo for the many hours spent dealing with banks, attorneys, and members to tie everything up.
The capital improvement projects are underway. You should see some work beginning in the next couple of months. Also upcoming in the next couple of months, look forward to a simplified Club web page designed for easy navigation where you can easily find updated information about the status of the various projects and just about anything else Club related.
January 1 marks the opening of the golf operations under Andrew Ellis’ leadership. You may notice some changes already. New merchandise is in the Golf Shop with more to come. Please stop by to see the revamped Shop and lend your support to Andrew.
Our employees are a valuable part of the operations of this Club. To show our appreciation, the board has approved a new scholarship program that will be available to employees. It will be funded by volunteer donations. The employee scholarship is an idea that has been floating around the Club for a few years; now we will make it a reality. To clarify, this scholarship is separate and apart from the scholarship we presently have for local high school students. A subcommittee of the House and Social Committee will be formed to define the parameters of, and administer, the employee scholarship. If you are interested in joining the subcommittee, please contact Steve Davis (stephenldavis@hotmail.com) or Randy Enberg (enberg@whidbey.com).
Many of you may not be familiar with the Club’s governing documents or have not looked at them in a very long time. As we turn the calendar to begin a new year, this seems like a good time to do that. I encourage you to find the By-Laws and Club Policies on the website and re-familiarize yourselves with them.
Wishing you a happy and healthy 2022. If you play golf, may you have many fantastic scores to come!
Best,
Toni Anderson
Board President
