November 1 – 17 = 5.00”
Course Information
The golf course has improved playability even though we had a significant amount of rainfall the last two months. In October 2021, we had 6.39” of rain compared to October 2020 = 2.04” of rain, an increase of 4.35”. Then in November 2021, 1 through 17 = 5” of rain compared to November 2020 = 3.32” of rain, an increase of 1.68”.

Several contributing factors that help firm up the golf course during the rainy season include:
- The dredging of our ditches, which helps keep the water flowing off the golf course while keeping the water table lower, so our course drainage is working effectively.
- Aerification and sanding of the fairways/rough.
- Having the ditches sprayed by an Aquatic Licensed Applicator keeps the vegetation down so the water can move freely through the ditches.
- Keeping the culverts free and clear of any debris that would restrict water flow.
- Making sure the North Pond weir is clear of any beaver dams and the diking district pumps are working effectively.
With conditions being firmer, we can mow more of the golf course compared to past years when the course was saturated. Besides mowing the golf course when conditions are favorable, we have worked on several projects, including:
- Continuing to work on the drainage on the #18 tee complex.
- Cutting up trees and picking up debris that have fallen from the recent windstorms
